Why Do Digital Marketing?

A consultancy provides guidance, strategy, and creative services to improve a client’s online presence. At HMS, our student members work as a team to research trends, plan campaigns, and produce high-quality content that engages your target audience.

Digital marketing is one of the most effective ways for organizations to connect with the people they want to reach. Whether you’re a small business, nonprofit, or startup, a strong online presence helps you share your mission, engage your community, and stand out in a crowded space.

Our service is completely free, and our team brings fresh, Gen Z-informed strategies backed by real experience in social media management and PR. In addition, our collaborative approach means you’re never in the dark as we provide regular updates to make sure our work stays aligned with your vision and delivers measurable results.

We offer mentorship, hands-on experience in digital marketing with real clients, and lectures on topics such as social media algorithms and consumer profiles. Digital marketing is a fast-growing field, yet few classes provide tangible projects and lessons that build industry-ready skills. That is why we created HMS, not just to bridge that gap, but to build a supportive community where students collaborate and learn from each other.

Yes and no! We are a registered organization at UT Austin, but we don’t work for them and aren’t representing UT as a brand. We are an organization formed by students at UT that officially met the requirements to be recognized and supported by the institution.

It’s what you make of it (although expect to spend at least two hours/week on mandatory meetings). If you want to make an impact and have something noteworthy on your resume, it will take a good amount of commitment, but that is true for anything. You get what you put in. Digital marketing is a competitive field, and if you want experience that helps you get your foot in the door, doing your best to deliver strong results for the client is the way to go.

That’s okay! While experience can give you a leg up, it’s not required. We are not looking for someone who knows everything; we are looking for someone eager to learn and adapt. A handful of digital marketers don’t have formal degrees; they fell into it. Our officers will guide you and give you the basic foundations, and it is up to you to take it from there. Learn as much as you can, be brave, and you will thrive in whatever role you take on.
